A Star Wars Halloween!

Here are Cole and Kara's Halloween costumes (yes, that really is Kara underneath that paint!).

Background:  Cole is obsessed with Star Wars, and especially loves the Clone Wars (which is the series that takes place between movies #3 and #4).  Because Cole loves Star Wars so much, so does Kara.  When they started looking at costumes, Cole was torn between two characters.  Kara then started talking about being one of the girls from Star Wars.  To which I asked, "not a princess?"  Oh well.  Since they were determined to be from Star Wars, Mark and I coaxed them into being Anakin Skywalker (who would end up becoming Darth Vader, but during the Clone Wars he was one of the heroes) and Ahsoka Tano.  Ahsoka is Anakin's Padawan (apprentice), and we thought it would be adorable for them to be a 'couple' like in the movie, instead of two separate characters.

We went trick or treating at the zoo a couple of weeks ago, and Kara looked cute in her costume and headtails (what the thing on her head is called - Ahsoka is an alien - obviously).  But something was missing...  We were planning on drawing the white designs on her face, but Mark thought of using makeup on her very fair skin to make her the more orange-y Ahsoka color.  And the difference was night and day, and she changed into our little alien right before our eyes!

They had an awesome time, loved their costumes, and are already planning on being other Star Wars characters next year!
May the Force be with you.

And also with you.

"Did you hear the good news?  We were able to find the location of the candy hidden on this planet.  Let's go back to the Jedi Temple and share our bounty with the Jedi Masters."
