Chalk Art Festival

On Saturday we went to a nearby town for their second annual Chalk Art Festival.  It was a neat (little) festival.  They tape off sections of their sidewalks and artists pay a very small fee to enter and have most of a day to create their masterpieces.  Most of the artists were done, but there were a few finishing up before the deadline, and some others that were done but hanging around so we could chat with them.

Some of our favorites....

These next two are our favorites too!

When we got home, the kids wanted to have our own chalk art contest.  Kara ended up not drawing, but she was the judge who came by everyone's work and said nice things.  Cole drew a very elaborate scene of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker battling it out with their lightsabers.  He included small details like the blue and red buttons on Vader's voice box, yellow electricity by the crossed blades, and two different colored hands on Luke (because he had a mechanical hand by that time).  They had a 14 and Under category in the Festival, and we were talking to Cole about signing up next year.
