Cole participated in his second Pinewood Derby. We decided to let Cole have a bit more say in the design and do as much of the work as possible by himself.

Cole had fun working on his car, but we did find out that most of the other Scouts must have had a lot more help from their parents. He was a bit discouraged to not race as well, but we kept praising him for how much he did on his own and how proud he should be of his efforts. The evening ended on a sour note, because the Packmaster read the results wrong and said that Cole won second place, and had him go up and get the trophy. Immediately after, Mark went and talked to them and the problem was corrected, but Cole was (understandably) a little bummed out. While we still want Cole to do the majority of the work on his car, we'll know for next year to give a little more guidance so he can compete with his Den.
