Endeavor periodically sends home reading incentives for the kids. Honestly, Cole reads so much now that we don't bother timing him or anything anymore. He more than meets the requirement, whether we participate is simply based on if we want to and are able. The latest one was for two free tickets to the Grand Rapids Griffins, which is the American Hockey League affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings. We've never been to a game, but since Cole was so interested in hockey when he played last winter, we thought this would be fun. Mark ended up being on call that night, so I went with Cole.
Mark ended up getting really good seats, and there were some empty seats next to us so we were able to move down a bit and have an even better view.We don't know a ton about hockey, but there was a lot of scoring (right in front of us), a few fights (my favorite! seriously), and lots of fun music and things to do during tv timeouts and intermissions, that the time passed very quickly.
Cole asked for a jersey. I told him no, because they probably cost about $50, but said that we would check if he wanted to use his money to pay for part of it. We got to the booth and kids jerseys were $120! Thankfully Cole agreed that that was ridiculous and was very happy with his $10 t-shirt instead.
We had a great time and it was fun to do something special and new together!
