Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

We went to the tree farm the day after Thanksgiving, as usual.  Last year we messed with tradition and tried a new place, so this year we decided to stick with what we know and love and go to our tried and true tree farm.  What was different about this year is that the weather was beautiful and we didn't need to bundle up.  It was so nice to throw on a light jacket or sweatshirt and head out the door!

Checking out the trunk, as instructed by Dad.
Getting final approval from Dad.
Six thumbs up!
Kara & Cole give Dad some pointers on how to cut the tree down.
Cole gives the saw a try.
Strong man!  Mark did miss wearing his traditional puffy coat that appears only at the tree farm!  : )

A few days later we put up the gigantic tree (it was over 9 feet tall!).
Kara & Cole provided some entertainment while we strung endless strands of lights.
Perhaps our favorite tradition is unwrapping all the ornaments and remembering the stories behind each one.  We have a large collection of ornaments that we've been given, that are souvenirs from places we've been, and many that the kids have made.  Each one is precious!

Our enormous tree - it didn't look nearly as tall at the tree yard!
Looking for the hidden pickle ornament.

We say it every year, but it's the best Christmas tree ever!
