Kara's Valentine's Day party was another fun time. I don't think I've blogged about her other parties.
They always start with a little performance with songs that they've learned for the holiday. Sometimes they are in a large group, and other times they sing just to their guests. Kara does much better when she just sings to me.
After singing, the class presented us with their gifts. They had a cute little heart holder with a poem about love and there was a Hershey's kiss inside. Kara was desperate to eat hers (although it was supposed to be for me, and no other child was eating theirs). By the time I finally told her she could eat it, it was a puddle of chocolate! : )
This adorable card was made by tracing Kara's hands twice (for the snowsuit), adding cotton around her face for a hood, and decorating it.
Next, the did an art project where the kids spelled out God Loves, while listening to a poem Miss Kathy read (a different line for each letter).
Finished product!
After the art project, we moved into the eating area and had ice cream sundaes and other goodies. My camera battery died so there aren't any pictures of Kara enjoying her ice cream. She had vanilla with a lot of crushed oreos, chocolate sauce, and gummy bears on top. If you're a kid, yum!
This was the last party of the year, and as the room mom I'm kind of glad. The teacher was always really organized and had everything planned out, but I had to do a lot of prep work for the art activity, help set up/clean up for each party, organize the food, contact parents who didn't sign up for anything, and other things. It's a lot of fun and the kids love it, but I think I'll pass on being room mom next year! : )
