Cole & Kara, How Does Your Garden Grow?

We are trying our hand at being gardener's and growing a small portion of our vegetables ourselves.  A friend told me about a community garden and we rented a plot together.  We each have a 20x10 foot plot.  Cole and Kara are really excited about the garden, and we really had to scale down the list of everything they wanted to grow.  As we are new to this gardening thing, we wanted to start small and see if we had any talent in this area.  Small still resulted in 9 different vegetables being planted.  Kara is pretty good about eating different vegetables, but Cole could do better so we're hoping he's more inclined to eat something he planted, watered, and picked by himself.

The first day we went over to break up the soil and pull all the weeds out.  They used to have a rototiller come through, but they added walkways with mulch so they don't do that anymore.  Mark especially worked hard on that, and it took us about two hours.  We went back a couple of weeks later, when all the freeze warnings were over, and planted.  Cole and Kara each helped dig the trenches, scatter seeds, and then cover the seeds with soil.

Hopefully a picture will come in a couple of months with baskets overflowing with produce!  Or one basket, we're not picky!
All my hard workers

While it may look like Kara is covering the seeds really well, she is really just dancing on top of the seed-less portion of the garden.
